This is a two stage Graduate Development Programme for Sytems Engineers and Higher Apprentices, designed to expose them to thinking about they see themselves as future leaders and also how they might lead, manage and influence their teams. The first year was about exploring and understanding self and others, and the second year focused on the practical application of that knowledge in a wide range of situations. Practical experiential learning was used to take delegates outside of their own comfort zones in order to reflect on their own performance; discovering new qualities and strengths.
Hazel Brown – Higher Apprentice
…”I’m coming to the end of my Higher Apprenticeship, and I’ve been sorting through my Personal Learning Record folder when I came across my assignment pieces and notes from the two i2i courses.
I just wanted to say thank you again for everything you (and your team) taught me, not only to help me progress in my apprenticeship, but to develop me personally as well. I’ve been using my skills learnt on the courses in my university assignments and it seems to be standing me in good stead for the future, and I’m looking forward to all of the challenges that lie ahead when I come off programme and start my full-time role within the company. My confidence has come on leaps and bounds, and I really am proud to look back on my two weeks on Dartmoor knowing that I faced so many fears (and survived!!).
You’ll be pleased (but mostly surprised!) to know that Peter and I are off on a long adventure weekend in North Wales in August, and we’ve booked ourselves onto a High & Low Ropes Course, Climbing and Abseiling Course, a day Kayaking on the river (actual fast-flowing water!). All of which would not be possible, and definitely not enjoyable, if it weren’t for you and the rest of the i2i team teaching me that I’m more than capable when I put my mind to things. It’s also down to you and the team that I faced my fears, and learnt to control the anxiety I feel to ensure I can knock down any obstacles in my path – so again, I thank you for that.
